Recently, Human Resource Executive invited me to speak at their Health & Benefits Leadership Conference. Specifically, they asked me to present on their “Ideas & Innovators” panel, which explores disruptive concepts in health and employee benefits. Each speaker was to use the “Ignite” presentation style, which, if you’re not familiar with, follows a simple but strict format: 5 minutes, 20 slides, 15 seconds per slide. (Think: a very abbreviated TED Talk.) Given all of the other impressive speakers on the panel, I knew I had my work cut out for me!
Unfortunately, last week, I ran into a schedule conflict that forced me to miss the show in-person. But the good people organizing the conference were kind enough to let me record my talk in my office. Then they played that recording during the live session in Vegas the following day. The presentation focused on two of my passions: employee healthcare and hockey. Believe it or not, these two things may seem worlds apart, but in fact, have a lot in common.
